My Story
At the end of February 2014, after almost a year and a half in a very difficult and toxic relationship, and After more than two decades of living there, I left Austin, Texas and moved to Mableton, Georgia. Why would I do such a thing, why would I leave such a popular city? In a nutshell, the overarching reason was to start over, to begin a new life. More specifically, it was to join a friend's band (to fulfill a dream of many years), to focus on my writing (short stories, poetry, graphic novels, children's stories, spirituality/self-esteem) and art, as well as to get back on track with my physical and spiritual health, while striving for progress in dealing with Type 1.5 Diabetes. Well, here we are now, at the end of June, beginning of July, still in 2014... and now I am facing Stage III Papillary Thyroid Cancer. To paraphrase the Great Bard: "When [troubles] come, they come not in single spies. But in battalions." (Hamlet: Act 4, Scene 5)

Interview: "Prince Rahman: Authentic Creative Expression"
Greetings, everyone & Happy New Year!!
I sincerely hope each of you has been able to enjoy some special time, some special moments, during these holidays. Perhaps your thoughts have now turned to the days ahead and the changes you would like to make (oh, those darn New Year's Resolutions!). Perhaps you're seeking some inspiration to shake you out of choosing the same goal (or goals) as last year.
With that in mind, I invite you to listen to my first interview as a professional writer/poet, conducted by Jennifer Nesbit Holt, for her podcast show "The Sound of Your Significance". In this episode you will learn:
*How to find the courage to live life on your own terms
*Why time brings about experience and wisdom
*Why it is never too late to open yourself up to desired change
*If your message touches at least one person in your lifetime you have succeeded

Bless you, and thank you for this opportunity to share thoughts and insights with you. And remember, in the words of Marianne Williamson:
"Your life has a purpose as long as you dedicate it to love. It's not what we do but who we are that forms our biggest contribution."

My Bio: The Extended Version
Prince Rahman, MSOLE, O.C.P.
Howdy! I was born in Bangladesh and was eight months old when my mother and I got to the United States (my father had already come ahead of us). After relatively short stints in New York and Houston, my folks and I moved to West Texas when I was five, which is where my sisters (who were born there) and I grew up.
I moved to the Capitol of Texas as soon as I could, and have lived in Austin for many years.
Oh, and for those who like to keep tabs on such things: I was naturalized at the age of eight years old. So, I’ve been an American citizen longer than many Facebook users (and some TSA staff) have been alive.
My experience encompasses working in mental healthcare, computer manufacturing, customer service, event planning, facilities operations, workforce development, social services, and case management.
As a speaker, workshop provider, and coach, I have worked in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. As a result, I have been able to touch the lives of community leaders, management professionals, case managers, military veterans, Katrina survivors, ex-offenders, transitioning homeless, and students in college, high school, and middle school.
Having originally studied Psychology and Sociology for four years, but not finishing a degree, nine years later I went on to earn a BA in Organizational Communication, a MS in Organizational Leadership & Ethics (MSOLE), and a Certificate in Mediation; all at St. Edward's University, in Austin, Texas. Most recently, I’ve taken the step of also becoming an ordained member of the clergy of The Church of Spiritual Humanism (Date of Ordination: 22 September 2013; O.C.P. = Ordained Clergy Person).

Human Compassion
If you wish to experience human compassion,
If you wish to know and understand it,
You must do more than stand by and observe.
You must take action.
You must actively participate in Life.
